It's just that Hondas do NOT look that good when they're alone or in a pack like that. I don't know what it is but you can take a gathering of 50 VWs and a gathering of 50 Hondas and the VWs will ALWAYS look 1,000x better than the Hondas. It seems like no matter what you do with a VW, it will pretty much always look good. Honda? Not so much.

That's certainly not the reason, dude. There are just as many VDub assholes as there are Honda assholes. It's just Honda tuning has been overplayed so many times you can't even go to sleep and dream about anything without a Civic buzzing by your dreamscape.
